Why a good website is important for business

So why is a website important for business?
Today’s world is digital and that’s where our customers are. The majority of our customers search for wedding photography or portrait photography on Google. So we needed a website that could display our product; photography. In the case of www.sthelensphotostudio.com it needed to display well on iOS (Apple), Android and Windows platforms. Statistics show that when it comes to photography, men and women tend to look for what to buy online on either a phone or a tablet as opposed to a home computer. We therefore couldn’t reach all our lovely customers without being mobile ready. Businesses need to have an online shop front if they are to remain successful.
If we were placing some reasons why a well-designed, mobile ready website is important for a small business, we'd say the following:
1. Cost effective – As advertising goes it’s cheap. Our last website lasted five years (we won’t leave it that long next time!) and we were lucky to generate a significant number of our customers through the website.
2. Social media links – Check out the cool little buttons at the base our pages. They let you engage with us on Twitter, Facebook, Google+ or e-mail. If you’re looking on a mobile you can click the telephone button and it will dial our number if want to talk to us.
3. Showcasing your product - Your website is a convenient way for your customers to look at what it is you do. We make a living taking pictures. So it’s important for our customers to see photos before making a choice and booking with us.
4. Letting the customer get to know you – Headshots of staff, offices, products can all help relationships. This is where we can help take professional photographs for your website, Facebook or Twitter profiles.
